Interesting heritage Canada link

heritage canada facts

james St. downtown St. Catharines, ontario

Here is what I saw on James St. probably the
nicest street in downtown St. Catharines.
I remember in the 70's when this street was buzzing!
shops, restaurants, hotels and one summer it was closed off
to traffic and tables, chairs, planters and stages were
installed for live entertainment on saturdays!!
makes me sad.

I moved back to my hometown of St. Catharines in 1999 and
saw so much potential for real growth. Sad to say I have
watched the core deteriorate from year to year.
We are the only ones in all of North America to
tear down a Carnegie library and only 2 others are gone due to
fires. The rest are all preserved.
I took a walk down St. Paul St. on New Years Day
to see what has transpired since the summer.
Very Sad.
